New information about We Love Marlborough membershipWhat you get • You get a say in the running of We Love Marlborough and can vote on important decisions and the membership of the committee. • You can become part of the committee or production team. • As a member you can access the website member’s arts and culture news, buy a service from We Love Marlborough, or organise an event in partnership with We Love Marlborough. We Love Marlborough exists to support the Marlborough area arts and cultural community, whether you are an artist, arts organisation or someone who simply enjoys local arts and culture events. The more members it has, the better informed and more effective the organisation will be for you.
Who can become members
Anyone who is actively involved in Marlborough area arts and culture, for instance: a business which sponsors events, an artist living or working in the Marlborough area, an attender of local arts and culture events, an organiser of arts and cultural events, a local gallery.
You can join as an individual, or a nominee for an unincorporated organisation or as a corporate body. Each member has a vote. An individual may have multiple voting rights through representing several organisations.
If an unincorporated organisation (ie not officially registered as a charity or company) needs to change its nominee, the nominee will need to resign and the new nominee to join.
Corporate bodies (ie registered as a charity or company) can change their individual contacts without resigning membership.
We Love Marlborough needs active members
To keep an active and vibrant membership We Love Marlborough needs members to be actively involved.
As a basic requirement each member needs to attend the Annual General Meeting, or send a representative or offer his or her apology (which can be retrospectively given).
The following are some of the other ways you could be active: • Attend at least one We Love Marlborough event per year • Read the monthly newsletter (if you have access to email) • Promote a We Love Marlborough event or put a link on your website. • Sponsor a We Love Marlborough event or project. • Use a We Love Marlborough service, or work in partnership with We Love Marlborough. • Volunteer at an event. What does it cost?
Membership of We Love Marlborough costs a nominal £1 (this means if you join, you don’t have to actually pay £1).
£1 is the total of your liability towards the organisation, as We Love Marlborough Ltd is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee.
